Bleek, Einl. in das A. T. § 206, p. 469 (cf. B. D. under the word )), Jeremiah (A. V. also Jeremias, Jeremy), a famous Hebrew prophet, who prophesied from (circa) until the destruction of Jerusalem (). Afterward, he departed into Egypt, where he appears to have died; (cf. B.
